Background

Of the South Asian countries, the poverty rate in Bangladesh is exceedingly high. Despite major progress, 1 in 5 people still live below the poverty line, and most of those that aren’t in “extreme poverty” by definition are still struggling to feed and educate their families. According to the Borgen Project, "homelessness in Bangladesh is prominent; five million people live without housing and 124 million live in mud houses and slums".

What we have done
 

Our volunteers in Dhaka assisted the homeless that struggle every day in the cold winters. The people we distributed blankets to lived on the streets, in the bitter weather, without much protection or resources. They were delighted to receive blankets to ensure that they can at least sleep in comfort; these were distributed to all kinds of people, including children, senior citizens, and adults.
